For one Mars lawman, a multi-disappearance shall have great implications for the colony he calls home.

7/4/19 - Over To You

I’ve talked about a lot of different stuff over the last few months, but this post is going to be a bit different. It’s going to be short and sweet. It’s going to be a question.

What do YOU want to know?

Leave your comments below and I’ll do my best to answer.

Hi Jamie

I'm fascinated with the Scifi genre - after coming to it very late. I've even been reading hard sci-fi which takes much longer to read (because I'm constantly looking up references to Quantum physics) but are definitely worth the read.

What made you decide to set your novel on Mars? Are you a Martian geek? I know I am and it's okay to ❤️ Mars. What difficulties present themselves setting your novel on a 'half-known' world. So many other questions but I'll just have to be patient. I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to Red Soil. xx

Thank you for your question Tabitha. Where to begin?
The beauty of the sci-fi genre is it vast broadness, it incorporates so many subjects and sub-genres including hard SF. I treat HSF like historical fiction, something that requires research and accuracy, whereas most of SF can be answered away with fictitious pseudo-science.
Much of my inspiration for Red Soil has come from the recent reinvigoration of the space sector. There has been a lot of discussion in the media regarding the future of space and I imagine even more taking place behind closed doors, and from what I’ve seen and read, Mars is where it’s at.
I can’t claim to be a hardcore Mars geek, but I love books such as The Expanse that use the icons of our solar system as part of its story. And you can’t let such issues as a half-known world get in your way. Bah!
