Will Self and More crowdfunding!

Dear supporters,

From the very start of this project, we came up with suggestions of who might write an introduction for us, preferably someone who had a bit of kudos, but who'd also tripped into the dark side, and understood what it was to stand at the brink and make it back again. We had a few ideas, tried a few people, but to no avail. All the time, I had Will Self at the back of my mind, and yet we didn't make contact with him - perhaps because I was worried, on some level, that he might just ignore us or say no. (I've always been a bit of a fan.) But then, with the help of a contributor, I got my hands on his email address and wrote to him. He got back immediately, and with no question, said yes. He sent his introduction to us last week, and it is perfect. Intelligent and opinionated, as you would expect, but also searching. A brilliant accompaniment to our literary, raw and enquiring pieces.

Other news is that two of our contributors organised a reading and discussion at Lighthouse Books in Edinburgh, last night, which went very well, and the pledges are still coming in. The crowdfunding is getting there, slowly. We're almost at 50%, and once we reach that middle mark it will be much easier for us to reach our target… but we still rely on word of mouth. Please talk about it, let people know about this project. There is nothing else like it out there. It will be so brilliant when we finally get to see it in print.

In the meantime, thank you, as always for helping make this happen. Not long now.

Have a good weekend,

Warm wishes, Lily

I'm so glad this project is still in the making. As a psychotherapist/counsellor, I worked in rehabs and supervised rehab counsellors for many years. I still have private clients struggling with addiction. My own dangerous codependency and addiction to various substances, have informed my life and work. Recovery is full of miracles as well as setbacks and failures.
