Greetings, Purple People supporters, and (a belated) Happy New Year to you!  I trust you had a suitably tinselly Christmas, and that your 2019 is off to a merry start?

Thus far I’m finding the beginning of 2019 rather like a bag of Revels with an overabundance of coffee cremes... so disappointing when you keep hoping to bite into a toffee yet constantly get dastardly coffee instead.  But there …

Hello pals of Purple People,

How are you? Hope everyone’s enjoying a dandy summer.  Here all’s been a smidge quiet on the Purple front, I know, and there have been a couple of reasons for that...

Firstly, I’ve been tinkering with the lay of this dystopian lavender land.  As other…

Crack out the Babycham - we’re at 100%!

Crikey moly! I’m exceedingly excited to say that Purple People is now fully funded!

After being included in Unbound’s ‘these books are close to hitting 100%’ email on Thursday, this particular snowball gathered speed, raising the final 10% of pledges in just 24 hours.  That made for one very overexcitable lass, sitting at the kitchen table, slightly gobsmacked, as the tally merrily rocketed…

Ah... look at the little purple people!

Pp postcard single

I'd guess we've all fallen for them; they're striking, appealing, sometimes irresistible.  They're supposed to say so much, and often they do.  Most probably, as you're being charmed by one, you'll be tickled by that ever-ripe idiom, 'You can't judge a book by its cover'.  Which may be true, of course, but that cover can certainly reel you in.

This week I've been pretty awestruck by the Purple…

I like to think that our days are much improved by giving credit where it’s due, and always saying an appreciative thank you.  Because really, who doesn’t like to feel that their efforts have been recognised, that their hard work is appreciated?

For a long time I’ve been intending to write a note of particular gratitude (blogging from my own website... which I’ve still yet to set up!).…

Unbound bank holiday pledge

Last weekend, in an exciting milestone, I made my first appearance officially as an author. As part of the Margate Bookie festival, the Unbound gang were holding a Pledge Party, and invited me to speak about Purple People.  This was, for me, a ridiculously exciting - not to mention terrifying - prospect.  And thinking about it this week, it wasn’t actually the first time I’d read my work for a…

Thank you! Merci! Tak!

Hi lovelies,

How are you?  Hope you’re all enjoying a most agreeable week.

Here I’ve been cracking out the party poppers (or rather, a bottle of Prosecco), as we’ve reached over half way, with Purple People currently 55% funded - and in just under a month!  Exceedingly exciting.

This is down to your kindness and support, so again, THANK YOU.  Crowdfunding for Purple People is proving…

Smash hits 1984

Greetings, Purple pals. I hope this finds you all well and dandy.

Firstly, in truly exciting news, Purple People is, as I write, already 48% funded - in just under three weeks!  Thank you so much for your pledges, which are very greatly appreciated.

Last week a portion of my family bobbed to Brighton on a day trip; my cousin, Sara, and her excellent offspring, Emily and Steven (I'd like to note…

Hello, pals of Purple People!

Sunday, 23 July 2017

I hope this finds you all well and dandy.  And firstly, a massive, neon-lit thank you for pledging.  It really is hugely appreciated.

With this being the first official update (woo!), I thought I'd share a couple of brief tales with you as to how the book came about - and found a home with the ace folk at Unbound.

Some moons ago I lived in New York, where I'd keep up to date with the news back…
