One thing leads to another...
Two festivals to report! I was lucky enough to be part of the Hexham Book Festival, where a small but appreciative audience heard me explaining a little about Mr Woodreeve's Reflection.
Afterwards a nice lady called Marj suggested that I might like to be part of the Haltwhistle Walking Festival in October. The novel is set locally in and around Allen Banks, so we worked out a literary walk together. This week we all met up in the National Trust car park, and headed off up the valley, with me reading little extracts at appropriate moments, to show how the setting had informed the novel. Very visual, someone said, it would make a great film...
The walk ended with tea and cake at our house - a cottage which also figures in the novel - and two American couples bought copies to take home. One of them has worked in the media and promised to tell their friends. Now, about those film rights...
