Impossible, Improbable, Inevitable
Ahoy to all my trusty supporters here on board the good ship "Life Drawing". I'm happy to say that progress has been so amazing since my last update that we are now very close to the target. And sorry for the lack of updates but my real life has also been going at a rate of knots (so many seafaring metaphors but at least it evokes the sense of exciting adventure!)
Some photos attached of the month's highlights. Kicked off with the wonderful pledge party at Waterstones, Gower St where eight of us appealed in whatever way we could to the kindly 'dragons'. I, naturally, exhorted the crowd with a musical theatre song. Stephen Sondheim's " Putting It Together" is the most apposite treatise of crowdfunding ever written..
Also attached are photos of my lovely Doctor Who event at the Voice Box in Derby. I managed to weave impressions of Kate Bush, Theresa May and Doctor Who producer John Nathan Turner into a Q and A about my life to date! Mags, the character I played, seems to have stayed fresh as ever in the Whovian pantheon. Thank you to the great people who pledged that night.
Some showbiz pics from my recent late night cabaret with " Ballroom" co-star Cory Peterson, my spot as Judy Garland at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend last week too which was part of a star studded line up headed by Jimmy Tarbuck .. lured away from the golf club by the promise of an adoring crowd!
So now I need to carve out time to produce the promised book. I'll be updating you with my progress. Please bear with me. I can promise you more insights into my processes and unusual, alluring locations for its creation.. not least, my dressing room at The Lowry Theatre, Manchester where I'll be performing in "Elf" the musical this Christmas.
