The Secret Life of LEGO® Bricks: an update from the Author
Wow, what a crazy and amazing couple of weeks! Years of voting for LEGO® IDEAS submittals had prepared me for a long, slow, climb to fully funded on The Secret Life of LEGO Bricks; I could not have been more wrong. I cannot say thank you enough to the fan community for bringing us across the finish line in just 10 days! You nearly set an Unbound record!
While I certainly did refresh the books page on Unbound nearly constantly throughout the day watching the pledges climb, it wasn’t all I have been up to. In keeping with their promise to provide unprecedented access I went through the process to be granted access to the company’s super exclusive photo archive and let me tell you it is a GOLDMINE. I have only scratched the surface of what is in there and can’t wait to keep digging.
I also had the official kickoff meeting with the LEGO Group via a delightful video conference with the team who is going to be supporting this writing effort from inside the company. We talked about interviews, digital resources and a whole lot more that I am not allowed to talk about or apparently a team of real life LEGO ninjas who are NOT from the NINJAGO universe will come get me.
Stay tuned for more updates soon! Chapter 1 here I come.

LEGO® prototype element and minifigure
Only 500 available. The LEGO Group is offering for the first time ever, a brand-new, specially 3D printed prototype element on which you can give your personal feedback. It comes with its own AFOL-themed minifigure.
Printed in Billund, Denmark, the element is yet to be finalized so it will be a surprise when you receive it, but we can tell you that this isn't something you will have seen before. The element will present a new integrated function as a part of our exploration of new design and play functions. It is the first time the LEGO Group is asking AFOLs and fans to give their thoughts on a specific element while the technology is being developed.
