Jacquetta Hawkes, a thankyou and some thoughts

Tuesday, 10 July 2018

Thank you so much to everyone who has pledged for "Ice Without, Fire Within", my biography of Jacquetta Hawkes. I'd bery much appreciate it if you could share the link as much as possible, to get the vital traction needed for the project to be published with Unbound.

And I'd like to clarify that the excerpt included on the project website is itself an artefact - a preface from 2005 that I will include as an example of the project's transformations, as well as the passion which initiated this long dig. This being a project of literary excavation it seemed apt to do that. Some archaeologists might be familiar with this 2005 online version, but "Ice Without, Fire Within" is not simply that work under another name. It builds on that material with several years of new research,  now drawing to a close. It is even more of a curosity, a biography of a biography over time.

By a lovely - and generous - sychronicity, I was able to launch the Unbound project from the room where Jacquetta wrote "A Land". I let it fly while overlooking that sensory garden where she heard birds, and trains, and could "rest awake"...
