Fantastic news - we are at 96% funded. A huge thanks to our recent pledgers and even bigger thanks to our very first supporters who pledged a year ago now and must be wondering when they will ever get this book! We are planning to submit our manuscript to Unbound at the end of August with publication earmarked for next year.
So help us get to fully funded so we can make this happen. Please tell anyone you think may be interested in Diana's story about Girl With A Gun. Tweet your support with something like this:
This extraordinary story, of a woman who joined the Peshmerga at the age of 17 after maiking it onto Iran's most wanted list, is 96% funded. Help us get it to hit 100% this week!@KarenAAttwood @IKWRO https://t.co/3wo4N6l71P
If you'd like to meet Diana in person to ask her all about her life in Iran, you can pledge for coffee with the authors or book us both for a workshop at your office or school to talk about women's rights in Iran and the UK.
In the meantime, Diana and I are busy with editing. I interviewed Diana's ex-husband Mahmoud last week for his valuable input into their life in the peshmerga fighting force. He is in the photo above with me and Diana. This weekend we will be interviewing Diana's younger sister - who also joined up with Diana at the age of 15 and whose story will feature prominently in Girl With A Gun.
Thanks so much for all of your support. We are so close now!
