A wish fulfilled after 228 years

Today (10 November 2020) a statue of Mary Wollstonecraft is to be unveiled on Newington Green in London. See: https://twitter.com/hashtag/VindicationForMary?src=hashtag_click

When Mary Ann Hunn read A Vindication of the Rights of Woman in 1792, the year of its publication, she wrote to her son: "Have you read the vindication of the rights of Woman? – I have spent some delightfull hours in its Society – if I may be allow’d the expression. – Bless the woman! She has raised my Sex, (and in consequence myself) to a State of dignity for which Statu[e]s shou’d be erected to her Memory."

Today, with the hopeful news of the Covid vaccine in mind, it's worth noticing that Mary Ann went on to compare Mary Wollstonecraft's achievements with those of Mary Wortley Montagu, who promoted the practice of inoculation against smallpox.
