A full-colour science fiction graphic novel about love, hope and the end of the Earth.

Murray Mielniczuk, the last astronaut, is dying. So is Earth.

In a last-ditch attempt to prevent both catastrophes, Murray and her wife Kay are shot forward through time to find a cure, rewrite the future, and prevent humanity’s imminent self-destruction. But crash-landing on a barren future Earth, they find themselves with no help, no ship, and no way home.

While Kay refuses to let them give up, Murray is plagued by strange hallucinations, unsure whether they’re the result of her illness or their tampering with cause and effect. As reality breaks down around them, and they realise the science underpinning their mission woefully misunderstood the nature of time, Murray is determined not to give up and is adamant that she will find a way to send Kay home...

Future is a character-driven sci-fi story about love, hopelessness, and which one ultimately wins, a conflict embodied in the two lead characters, Kay and Murray. Aimed at a 16+ audience, the complex themes are off-set by an upbeat gallows humour.

For many of us, the future has turned from something aspirational into something to fear, with crumbling economies, climate change, nationalism, and threats of nuclear holocaust just for starters. Murray and Kay represent two ways of seeing the future, the pessimist and optimist within each of us, Murray’s despair in the face of her terminal diagnosis against Kay’s unwavering belief that they can make their future better.

Future posits that it’s during the worst times that we most need to move forward, to push through hopelessness and shape our future rather than letting it shape us.

Future poster

Hi everyone! Firstly, thanks for following Future’s progress, you’re delightful.

Everything’s going wonderfully. We’ve been featured by Broken Frontier, Sirens of Sequentials, been in Unbound’s newsletter, and have lots of other interviews and whatnot set up.

Moreover, the art for Chapter 1 is COMPLETE, and the crowdfund has hit 17%, meaning they’re keeping perfect pace! We’ll carry on working…
