Almost There

At the time of writing I am 91% funded! I am so grateful to all of you for supporting this project. I just wrote the thing - it is you who have made the possibility of publication a reality. There have been a rush of new supporters in the last couple of weeks and if I haven't thanked you personally I'd like to do so now.

When I haven't been marketing this book I have been editing it. I've had to be realistic about what can and cannot be included. I have taken out the song lyrics because the copyright fees would be enormous. This means that my story told entirely through Doors lyrics has been filed away for use at spoken word events only. I am a bit sad about this as I really enjoyed writing it but that's the way the whiskey rolls.

I realised this week how many of my subjects are in the news. Obviously, Muhammad Ali, but also Oscar Pistorious, Big Brother, famous 1970s paedophiles, Kate and Wills and Stephen Hawking. As the UK roller-coasters towards the EU referendum celebrities seem to be constantly emmerging from under rocks to tell us which way we should vote. Their certainty in the value of their opinion reminds me of why I collected these stories together in the first place. The important people are the little people and not the rich and priviledged. I'm hoping this book will make people think about our obsession with fame and the superficial.

This book is so close to being published that I need just 31 £10 pledges. I need them by next Wednesday. Please share on social media and talk about this project. I will be hitting the streets with leaflets and trying to get the last few pledges together. Now the project is over 90% funded I can't help smiling. Most traditional publishers tell you that short stories don't sell. I feel like jumping up and down and shouting IN YOUR FACE PUBLISHERS! I just might do it and fim it!

Thanks again for all your support.
