Edits Round 2 and Cover Design

Hi all and Happy Wednesday,

I hope everyone is keeping safe and well and perhaps feeling a bit mroe settled into the changes to our every day lives that these times have created.

I wanted to give you a wee update on the production process to let you know that, just because the publication of Embers has been postponed, doesn't mean the pocess has come to a halt.

Today I submitted the second round of structural edits. There was far less to do this time round, mainly a couple of rephrasings and checking I was consostent with minor details such as dates and facial features (i.e. double checking that someone who had blue eyes on p.10 doesn't suddenly have grey eyes on p.100). There was a brief section that needed rewriting in a different point of view, but apart from that I did not have to do any proper changes.

I've learnt so much from the structural edit and have noticed a real increase in the quality of my writing comapred to just the beginning of this year! Next up is the copy-edit, the final stage before the book is prepared for print and the actual production process is set in motion.

I have also received and provided feedback on the first draft of the front cover. I cannot share this with the general public, but I can say it was hugely exciting, and taht here were a couple of details I was extremely pleased with. I can't wait to see what the second draft will look like and to be able to share the final cover deisgn with you later on.

Until next time,

Josephine
