This Week's Tune (11/13)

Tuesday, 14 November 2017

Good evening, everybody!

I must have poor choosing ability, because, once again, I have two songs for you this week! These choices hail from my Goodfellas playlist, which I began putting together after first seeing the movie, perhaps one of the finest Mob films out there: "Speedo", by the Cadillacs, and "Atlantis" by Donovan. (Usual copyrights apply; I own nothing!)

Like those from Breaking Bad, they're heard at completely different scenes, mood-wise (the first happy-go-lucky, the second startlingly violent), and provide the perfect background for both these and the air for my own Neo-Mafia thriller writing project(s). In fact, it was a particular line from Goodfellas that inspired me to first shape the plot for what was originally intended as a serial novel, but has since grown into a six-book series, and absorbed (in a good way!) a huge part of my time, focus, energy and developing skill as a writer. I'm close to a 20K word count in the current, final novel as part of NaNoWriMo; I fully expect to hit the 50K mark by the 30th, and push a ways further on toward the end before New Year's. Fear not: this series WILL see the (published) light of day!

In other news, I recently got an interesting newsletter update from from the Unbound people: They've added a "Donate" button option to the Account dashboard of current and newly signed-up donors, that allows donors to add more to a pledge without upgrading to a higher level or receiving any extra goodies that might be unwanted. Check this out for yourselves, and pass the word on to other potential readers; let's push Discarded on toward the finish line!
