The ten percent club
Wow! Thank you for believing in our book and getting us to 10%. It marks our first formal milestone in making our project possible.
Chinatown is never far from our minds. This year we’ve been busy working on an exhibition, The Making of Chinatown, which was open at China Exchange in London during the summer. The exhibition provided some fantastic content for the book - it has also meant that we've been focused on making the show happen and now we can turn our focus to selling copies of Chinatown Stories.
We have been gathering more compelling stories during the past few months - the tales of dim sum chefs who handmade each morsel (the majority of dim sum served in Chinatown today is factory made); the consequences of China's revolution for families divided by geography; and stories of older generations being isolated from their grandchildren because they aren't able to speak the same language. We've laughed. We've cried. We've wondered how we're going to fit all of these stories into just one book! Remember, all proceeds from the book will support heritage and community projects in London's Chinatown.
For our next 20% of book pledges, we’ll be using our social media networks and continuing to pester friends and family for their support. We need your help! Will you share our pledge page with your friends, family, neighbours and colleagues? We need the news of our project to spread further and wider and we would love your help. Get in touch if you have ideas or networks that we can access to get us to that next milestone.
We can't do it without you!
