I AM ADULTING!

I have learnt pretty quickly that you have to be really ingenious when crowdfunding.
First of all, you have to learn to be a salesperson very quickly. But an unpushy, literary one. So not too many bells and whistles.
Secondly, you have to have your 'elevator pitch' (those couple of lines that authors quote you when you ask what the book is about) ready to breeze off as if you have never said it before.
It must sound fresh and fascinating. I know, I know! It is beginning to sound terribly manipulative & false but I promise you it isn't. Most authors are introverts or ambiverts & this type of promotion can be excruciating And that is why crowdfunding is not for everybody.
Thirdly, you have to have strategic marketing plans in place. Thinking about when to tweet and be very discerning about it. I know I don't want my Twitter feed packed full of Retweets about Books, as much as I love them. It stifles everything else in my feed and I imagine most people feel the same.
Fourthly, have a great group of people who really value your work and the book and are prepared to shout about it on your behalf.
Fifthly... Okay! I'm stopping the strange counting off thing I've started here.
Next, any endurance experiences you can draw on that might help you maintain momentum.
Think Marathons, giving birth, summitting Everest and WW2 spy missions in Casablanca.
Lastly, investing (as cheaply as possible) in some promotional materials such as these!
You may recognize Clarie, my Singaporean helper, in the painting. Beautiful soul, inside and out.
That's all for now, but please ask any questions you want, I love to be engaged with my supporters.
Thank you so much for pledging. I am continuously thankful.
