Hello, my lovely supporters!
I realise it has been about 245 years since you heard from me or had an update and please accept my profuse apologies.
However, I am pleased to tell you that BOTBL is now in the editing process. This is a huge step towards publication and very exciting. I am so lucky to have Scott Pack as my editor because he basically rocks and is well-known for his great taste! :D
More importantly, Scott is a brilliant editor. He is encouraging and knows his stuff. Apparently, I am a comma thug - misuse them all the time and there are only 3 conventions for speech when writing dialogue (Nope! I had no idea either) and I use at least five of them so there is quite a lot of work to be done but I'm huffing my way through.
Some of you may know that I started Stirling Publishing (www.stirlingpublishing.co.uk) last year and this is one of the reasons BOTBL has taken much longer than I had anticipated getting to this stage. Stirling's first two titles are out in August and October respectively and it is a momentous time for me. I've always been a late starter probably because my twenties were all about arrested development and I was battling BiPolar Type 2 unmedicated. I am so grateful that my life has calmed down and I have my two gorgeous children (and husband). And I mustn't forget the Beagle!
I am also crowdfunding with 50 other writers for an anthology about addiction and recovery called 'A Wild And Precious Life'. I have a long history of addiction and thankfully, a longer one in recovery and this book is a very realistic, raw and brave exploration of what it means to those who have been there and made it back.
Do have click here and see if you would like to pledge - half of the profits go to St. Mungos, an incredible charity that supports homeless people to recover their lives, find housing and facilitate better mental health.
Finally, I have a question for you!
It has been mooted that 'Blood On The Banana Leaf' sounds too much like a thriller so I've come up with 'Bitter Leaves'.
I'm genuinely interested in what you all think so please leave your choice in the comments below or contact me by email/Twitter/Facebook. It seems a 50/50 split but you, as my supporters, are vital to our book so please have your say.
Thank you again for sticking with me. I promise you it will be worth it in the end.
