The Customer is Always the Hero

We have been asked a number of questions about the plan for our book “Open a Bookshop, What Could Possibly go Wrong” and we thought we’d use this forum to answer one of them.

Question: Will you be telling funny stories about your customers?

Answer: No.

Longer answer: Really, really no. Our customers made this shop, quite literally. They make the effort to come to us, when there are other easier options. They take the time to tell us what we’re doing right, and – occasionally – what we’re doing wrong, or what we could do better. They support our events, and suggest new ones. They come to our groups, story-times and water the plants outside the shop. They bring us biscuits, cake, beer and wine. To make fun of them would be a huge betrayal.

That doesn’t mean that we won’t tell you about funny things that happen in the shop. It just means that OUR CUSTOMERS WILL NEVER BE THE BRUNT OF ANY JOKES.
