Exciting Barking News, Part 2!

Hello Barking Supporters,

I am delighted to say that on Friday Barking reached 100% & is now full funded!

This is thanks to a generous contribution from my new collaborators The Lakes International Comic Art Festival. Alongside the public funds from National Lottery/ Arts Council England and every single one of you my graphic novel will be going to print this year.

I can now also say that I will be part of the events at this years LICAF so if you are Kendal bound in October please find me & say hi. I will also be holding an exhibtion of the artwork & processes at DEPTFORDdoesART in November & I’m in conversation with London’s coolest comic shop about a launch in early 2020. Much excitement ahead!

I’m currently about half way through laying out the final 5 chapters and hand lettering. Next I will be digitally inking and then the spreads will be off to the extremely capable hands of my editor, Lizzie Kaye. Who will get the book proof-read & ship shape ready for print. There will be updates on the progress for you from Unbound & I will keep you posted of the various happenings. I wanted to share a peek of what Barking is looking like at the mo and thought carefully about a preview without spoilers so below is a spread at pre-inking/ mid-lettering stage. Things will get a whole lot blacker & the lettering will be added to with extras to come but it gives you an idea of where things are at without giving the game away.

For now I just want to say a heartfelt thank you for your generous support. It’s no understatement to say I couldn’t have done it without any of you & my gratitude is endless.

More updates soon... Lucy x
