Dearest Bad Romancers,
Last week, just after I wrote the Easter update, my ace editor Katy Guest announced that if we got to 70% funded it would be yuuuuge because every previous Unbound book that reached that magic percentage went on to fully fund... So with Bad Romance it's no longer a question of IF it will be published - it's a question of WHEN...
Thanks to everyone who pledged last week we're now at 74% - that's nearly three quarters...
With your help (once again - thank you thank you thank you) we might really do this in 90 days... if you can only sustain being so completely amazing and keep sending your friends with first rate book taste our way...
Also... If any of you pledged for an ebook after recoiling in horror from Unbound's mad postal charges... You can upgrade to a hardback which will be delivered gratis if you type FREESHIPPING in at the checkout (until midnight this Sunday- 30th April.) This also goes for collages (there are nine left but I'm happy to take commissions if there's anything you'd particularly like for your wall...) and book bags and single ladies' reading lists and everything else.
There are now just four places left on the pitching workshop - if you know anyone who needs help getting their journalism published please send them my way for top tips, crafted words and a lot of biscuits... (Provided they can write I'm pretty sure I'll make them their money back - at the very least...)
As ever I want to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU.
And ... most especially... this week... for extraordinary acts above and beyond... Simon English and Chris Holbrook (whose incredible efforts shoved Bad Romance up to sixth fastest funding book last week), Oly Duff (the editor of the i newspaper no less!), the best men in the United States Gary O'Donoghue and John R. MacArthur, my sisters in sisterhood Mary Honeyball and Lauren Bensted and (as ever) Katy Guest with... Unbound's founder - no less - John Mitchinson!
If you know ANYONE who'd like their name in the back of a very funny book of short stories that WILL soon appear in all good bookshops please do (once again) prod them - I promise they won't regret it (and can send them sneak previews of stories or anything else you feel might convince them of all the benefits of Bad Romance...)
Lots of love,
P.S. Everytime I get a book pledge I feel like dancing the can-can. So I attach a video from The Amorist launch party last night in which a girl with a moustache does just that.
