Apple Island Wife: Escape to Tasmania
By Fiona Stocker
What happens when you move to Tasmania on a hunch, with a husband who aspires to be an alpaca whisperer and a feral cockerel? Can you cook the cockerel for dinner, or has it got rigor mortis?

Are We There Yet?
They say it's a long road in publishing, and it feels like we've been on this highway for a long time and everybody's had enough of the boiled sweets. But take heart! The cover design is done, the blurb is written, the quotes are in, and Apple Island Wife looks like a book to jump off the bookshop shelves.
Within a couple of weeks it will be released as an e-book on all digital platforms - Amazon, Kindle, iBook and the obscure ones. If you pledged for a digital copy, expect to get yours pretty pronto!
Special edition paperbacks will be printed for all of you who pledged for a paperback, and sent out Very Soon.
In a departure for Unbound, a print run will happen in Australia, so paperbacks reach the bookshops in time for the Christmas market - ho ho ho!
All this means I'll be doing everything I can to talk about the book and promote it. Storeys bookshop kindly invited me to their Love Your Bookshop day in August. Authors read their books and got used to the stackable plastic seating of literary stardom. That's me on the left rummaging in my bag, pretending to look for for my glasses but actually wondering how much longer the other authors were going to wax on beyond their fifteen minute slot.
COMING UP
Going to the Tamar Valley Writers' Festival? You'll catch me on a panel at midday on Saturday 15th September, with Pip Courtenay of ABC TV's Landline.
Not long now, and thanks for hanging in there with me!
