We did it!
Well -- I just wanted to send an enormous thank you to everyone for supporting First Light so generously. You know the deal with Unbound already: there's a big U at the beginning of their name for a reason! And it's wonderful for me to know that even before the book is finished (and the brilliant contributions are now coming in thick and fast) there is a great gathering of eager readers out there, united in their love of and admiration for Alan's work. And yes, it's quite right to say the deed is nothing (you'll all know what I mean) -- but in this case I'll allow that it's something, too: and you've done it. I'm so grateful. Onward!

It's wonderful to hear that the book has been fully funded. I am so proud to be a part of this wonderful project and can't wait to see the finished product!

It's great news about the book being funded. This is my first Unbound experience - and all because of Alan Garner. It is not an exaggeration to say that he shaped my childhood, so I can't wait to read about everyone else's experiences and thoughts of his literature.

My 1st Unbound experience too - didn't discover Alan Garner until I was an adult. It's never too late!

Oh dear, I don't know what Erica Wagner means by " the deed is nothing ".
Many years ago I grew up in Cheshire and our English teacher introduced us to "The Wierdstone of Brisingamen". Though I have not re read it I am aware of Erica Wagner's study of Sylvia Plath so am very pleased to support "First Light".

I'm so happy! This is the first book I've pledged too which has actually 'made it'. Alan Garner is splendid. I wrote to him years ago because I had loved his books as a child and was interested in his work preserving historic buildings in Cheshire as an adult and he wrote me a very kind reply which many authors would not take the time to do.
