A Small Dark Quiet

By Miranda Gold

Is it possible to replace a life?

Tuesday, 5 September 2017

By then, summer, it's been...English

I’m always tempted to hibernate once the days start getting shorter – let me curl up and read and write till spring.  Not quite time for that though, autumn is going to be full of exciting plans to fund ‘A Small Dark Quiet’ and to get the novel that little bit closer to being in your hands. First off is an event I’m doing with my fellow Unboundersmith, Caitlin Davies. Having spent twelve years in Botswana, Caitlin returned to London to continue her career as a journalist and author of both fiction and non-fiction. Like me, Caitlin is compelled towards untold stories of courage and resilience, often set in London. We’ll be discussing the role fiction can play as a guide and anchor as we confront our collective and personal histories and bring a more sensitive engagement with the present. We'll also be talking about how the themes of loss, migration and the search for belonging link my first novel, 'Starlings' to 'A Small Dark Quiet.' Please come along with questions of your own too, it's the readers who bring a book to life. If you would like to find out more about Caitlin, please do pop over to her website

The event is on the 23rd September from 3pm at Hornsey Library, Haringey Park N8 9JA. It would be wonderful to see you there and, as always, please do keep spreading the word.
