Spot the Difference
Thursday, 30 November 2017
Hello lovely people
Copies of A Murder To Die For should start plopping onto subscribers' doormats very soon as the great posting has begun. While you wait I thought I'd just explain what the differences are between the subscriber special edition and the standard trade edition that hits the shops in January.
The first obvious difference is size and weight. The specials are printed on a higher quality and heavier weight white paper than the trades - there's a marked colour difference too.
The chapter numbers in the special editions are blocked in green, carrying the colour over from the cover while the trade chapter numbers are hollow.
But it's the covers that show the most difference.
It's hard to demonstrate in a photo but the trades (right) have a gloss coating over the orange and yellow title lettering while the specials have lettering that is outlined on cover and spine with a delicious bronze foil that really catches the light. The special edition covers are printed on a heavier and whiter card than the trades so the colours pop more and the images are brighter too.
Don't get me wrong - the trade editions look absolutely gorgeous and also feature the colour map of the village (where the action takes place) on the inside front cover. But the special editions really are special. I'm delighted with them and, if you haven't already bought one, you can from here, the Unbound site.
Once they're gone they're gone! And they won't be reprinted.
I hope your books arrive soon and I really hope you enjoy them.
