How to Crowdfund a Book. Or anything else.

Friday, 29 July 2016

Last year, I wrote piece about my crowdfunding journey which was serialised in three parts by

Here they are, if it's something that interests you (and I hope it helps some of you if you take the same journey):

Part 1: Bloodied but Unbound: My route to crowdfunding

Part 2: Large helpings of innovation, fun and perseverance

Part 3: The social side of selling, selling, selling your project

There's no escaping the fact that crowdfunding is tougher for some than for others. Yes, of course it helps if you're a celeb or well-known personality. And yes, it helps too if your project is based on an already popular blog, website or product - you have a ready-made fan base. But, for the rest of us - me included - it's tougher and our ideas have to catch the public imagination. We have to work for our pledgers.

I guess the best advice I can give is - hang in there. If you persevere, you'll get there.

I've hit the 100% mark three times with Unbound (four if you count my Saving Bletchley Park collaboration with Dr Sue Black OBE) and I'm 70% of the way towards Book Four. Every book published by Unbound was written by an author who did the same. You can too. Never give up.

Oh, and ALWAYS slip in a plug for your new book. What? You haven't pledged on mine yet? WHAT ARE YOU PLAYING AT??!! A murder mystery at a murder mystery festival? And a comedy to boot? OF COURSE YOU WANT IT!

So click here and pledge! A Murder To Die For is already 70% funded so we've done most of the work for you. All you have to do is help us to kick it over the line :)

Oh, and don't be afraid to ask me any questions. Lots of people helped me along the way and I'm happy to pay that help and kindness forward. Leave a comment in the shed here or tweet me - I'm @stevyncolgan - or email me

We're all in this together!
