A Love of Two Halves
First, a big announcement: the book has a new title. It’s quite an adjustment, having used the original while managing the crowdfunding project for over a year; a title related to themes in the book. But now my baby has a new name: A Love of Two Halves.
While I was proud of the sharpness and originality of The Rooms We Never Enter, I do have to admit that it doesn’t sound like a romantic comedy; more like a ghost story, thriller or a literary novel. This is a real problem as it’s the branding on the package, as it were. After much discussion with the editorial team at Unbound, during which we considered several options, we have settled on A Love of Two Halves.
I love the new title. There is a nod to George’s football interest by adapting a football idiom, but with the play on words it also alludes to the two social halves of Britain in which Karen and George live at the beginning of the story, and the two halves of any relationship. Creative work on the cover design has begun. Publication is on course for October or November.
My other announcement is that I have completed work on the development edit. The insights from my editor Kia were quite brilliant; more like having a gifted co-author. So I’m cautiously optimistic that we’ve created quite a special read. I do hope so.
So I’m afraid it’s ciao to the previous title. At least for now. I feel I have to go write an atmospheric ghost story so I can still use it ...
