Monster on the loose
Well, we finally did it – every word has been written and every recipe tested (many, many times), and the A Gothic Cookbook manuscript is now with an in-house editor at Unbound.
While they work their magic, we just wanted to say a Count Fosco–sized thank you to everyone who has supported us, from those who pledged when we first launched the campaign to anyone who has recently preordered the book. We know it's taken longer than expected (due to a small new arrival, inconvenient jobs and general life) and really do appreciate your patience and faith in us and our beautifully strange idea for a cookbook.
The work, and the wait, isn't quite over, as now we'll be liaising with the Unbound team to get our little beast publication-ready. We'll keep you updated along the way, and of course you'll be the first to know when we have a release date.
Until then, people can still preorder the book and our limited-edition merchandise, from the vintage-style cocktail booklet to that very special afternoon tea with Mrs Danvers (including some of that very special gingerbread, as served at Manderley in Daphne du Maurier's Rebecca). Everyone who pledges before the printing process begins can still be listed in the book as a supporter, too, so do spread the word to any Gothic/literature/food fans!
