98% Pure Potato: The Origins of Advertising Account Planning

By John Griffiths and Tracey Follows

The story of how account planning began, told by its pioneers

Thursday, 1 December 2016

This month it has all been about Tracey

Co-author of 98% Pure Potato. She won 2016 agency winner for Outstanding contribution to Marketing at the Women in Marketing Awards night. Her opposite number client side for Outstanding contribution was Nicola Mendelssohn Facebook VP for Europe Middle East and Africa - so she is in good company!

She popped up on TEDxWhitehall Women giving a talk about time.

And last week in Campaign magazine she was telling us what she made of this year's crop of Christmas TV advertising in the UK.

I take quiet satisfaction from the knowledge that Tracey's expertise has given the book its cutting edge and that the book will contribute to helping planners and strategists to be more effective in their roles.  We are now getting regular feedback from those who have read the book.

Oh and we have been plugging the ebook with a price offer which briefly drove the hardback into the advertising top 10 on Amazon.co.uk. A lot of people don't want to read the book on Kindle and would rather opt for the hardback version. So if you are short of inspiration for Christmas presents well here's a candidate to consider!

We wish you a very happy Christmas - if you haven't had a chance to curl up with a book for a while then we have suggestions! And you could do a lot worse than browse through the titles on Unbound. Their collection of authors is varied the subject matter is unexpected. And there are lots of published books. It's not just about funding books prior to publication. The Good Immigrant is a favourite. It featured as Radio 4 book of the week last month and is at the top of a number of sales charts on Amazon to do with migration and multiculturalism.

And best wishes for 2017 and lots more reading!
