Light in the Darkness
Hi all, I wanted to share some brilliant news! We have hit 80% funded, with less than 30 copies to go before our next big milestone! We’re so close now. And we are launching a very beautiful Gift Certificate to wow your loved ones.
The festive season is, thanks to Lockdown 2.0, well and truly here. Yesterday I saw not only a lit up tree but a house with a fairly-light reindeer and flashing Merry Xmas sign. On Saturday I revelled in the beautiful pictures from some of our writers like Susmita Bhattacharya, whose photos of lit up Diwali candles reminded me that we are all hoping for some light at the moment.
So it’s been amazing to see the project hit 80%. In my last update I told you about the Lockdown Lift-Up which was, as hoped for an evening of laughter, joy and a few brainteasers. Congratulations to team Sandi Toksquiz who beat the competition with a narrow margin to take the title. A great thanks to all of you who came along and to Ada Campe who kept us laughing. She’s pictured with her “able assistants” below. I’m thrilled that the event, alongside a mention from our favourite cook Anna Jones, raised £500 and lifted us up to that magic 80%!
Please continue to tell your friends about us, and if you’re thinking ahead, why not gift someone a copy of this amazing book? It won’t arrive for this Christmas, but from today, anyone who buys a copy for a loved one can download this awesome gift voucher to present to them, in person or online. That way, they will know they’re helping to make this book a reality and supporting our work to raise women’s voices, as well as all of our brilliant friends who have contributed to the collection. You can download our voucher here.
During the festive period we will be holding uplifting events for supporters new and old, offering some special rewards as well as special discounts (starting this Friday eee!!) To hear about them, follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Thank you to all our new supporters and those who have stuck with us for so long! We’re on the home straight. And for a reminder of the quality of the writers in our collection, a special treat - have a listen to Susmita’s story Old Spice which premiered on Radio 4 today.
Have a good week and see you online!
PS If you've received this twice, apologies, there was a problem with the links in my last mail.
