What Makes a Good Book Cover?

Happy Monday, everyone!

I've had lots of new supporters for THE MASH HOUSE recently, taking the campaign to 36% funded. The novel is officially in its second trimester. Thank you all so much for getting involved, it means a lot.

I've been thinking a lot about how the book might look once it's published. I understand the logic behind the old saying, but it's inevitable that we do judge books by their covers. Books need to have appeal on the shelf and on the screen.

I've been experimenting with some designs for book covers this morning, using an app called Canva. These do not represent the final cover in any way - Unbound's team will put together the finished product, so these are just for fun. But it's been a useful exercise in helping me to think about the tone of my narration, some pertinent imagery, and the potential audience that my book might end up appealing to.

Please do have a look, and let me know what you think of these designs in the comments section below.
