Last Friday when we re-launched this campaign, we were sitting at 72%. One week later, your overwhelming enthusiasm and - in some cases - excitable pledge upgrading, has boosted our progress to 84%!!! Amazing!
There is still a way to go - we still need about 200 people to pledge for the paperback (less for the signed edition!, and far less for the T-shirt!) - but we wanted to take a moment and thank you all for sharing it with your friends, family, colleagues, LinkedIn, and other social media. Whatever you did, it’s working! Keep up the great work!!!
For the rest of this note, you’ll be treated to:
-An introduction to one of your stellar contributors, David Olusoga.
-Some helpful suggestions from our friends at the Samaritans as we approach World Mental Health day (remember 50% profit of every book sold goes to that amazing charity)
-A look at some of our newer and zanier rewards.
-News about our upcoming shows in 2021
Until next week, do keep sharing the link - think Christmas presents, people!!!

Contributor Spotlight: David Olusoga
On the 7th of November last year, the electricity running through our audience at Words Weekend could have lit up the Sage building, the whole of Gateshead, and, indeed, the entire North of England.
If there wasn’t already an OneTrackMinds hall of fame, David Olusoga and Aunt Molly Jackson would have laid the foundations for it then and there.
We sat rapt as the BAFTA-winning OBE Historian finished speaking. “Surely it can’t get more spine-tingling than that!”, we thought. Then the pining, ethereal voice of the Kentucky songstress came crackling into the room. We wept - and wished that everyone had been there to hear it.
These are our favourite moments of doing our show, and maybe some of the best in life - when we feel humbled, welcomed, enlightened, surprised, spellbound, and inspired all at once.
Yet the ability to unearth history and weave it together to unite an audience is just another day in the office for David Olusoga. He has presented countless vital programs like The World's War: Forgotten Soldiers of Empire, Civilisations, Black and Britsh: A Forgotten History, and the BAFTA-winning Britain’s Forgotten Slave Owners.
We knew that before the show, of course. We knew that he’s also a best-selling, multi-award-winning author and journalist. So we really should have known that he'd tell one hell of a story.
And you, dear friends, are going to find out just how good it was when we publish it in our first anthology!

World Mental Health Day
Asking for help, while the most useful thing to do, isn't always the easiest. We can explain away our problems, minimize them, put them to one side, self-medicate - in fact, do just about everything else under the sun except let people know that we could use a hand.
This World Mental Health Day, whether you need help or you can be of help to someone you know, pick up the phone, send a text or go on a (socially-distanced!) walk with a friend. Do what you need to do in order to share, and hopefully halve, some problems.
For inspiration for exactly that, take a look at the Samaritans website where they feature Real People Real Stories and hear from plenty of other people about how they found the help they needed.
