Virtual book launch, Thursday 18 November, 6-8pm London time

Dear Backers

First off can I say thanks very much indeed for backing this project.

How to Live in the Country was first published by Penguin with the title Brave Old World in 2012, but had gone out of print. We thought it was due for reprint, given the new interest in changing lifestyles, getting out of town and bringing some of our food production in-house. Thanks for buying a copy in advance. I hope you enjoy it.

Secondly, I'd like to invite you to a virtual event to celebrate publication this week on Thursday at 6pm.

It's called "A Drink with the Idler" and is part of the Idler's series of online "drinks".

My guest will be the reali-life, actual farmer Guy Singh-Watson, founder of the excellent Riverford Organic Farmers. As you may know, Guy was a pioneer of vegetable box schemes, as over the last thirty years has built his business into a thriving concern with 55,000 customers.

To sign up for our event on Thursday, just click here and choose the "subscriber free ticket" option at the Eventbrite stage. you'll have the opportunity to put questions to guy and me in the Q&A at 6.45pm. I look forward to seeing you there.

Live well,

Tom Hodgkinson

PS We at the Idler are doing a special Christmas offer for gift subscriptions which include a free copy of my other new book, An Idler's Manual, and a free tote. Click here
