Hi everyone,
It's a while since I last checked in. Basically, what happened is: the book is nearly on its way to the printer (again, not much for me to talk about here). Meanwhile, I've been collecting "mini-updates" for one major update... which is this email!
REWARDS (Bookmarks, postcards and enamel pin)
All of the rewards have finally been made. Check them out below!
Bookmarks illustrated by Bree Paulsen, myself, choodraws and Kaeti Vandorn. These bookmarks are double-sided and printed on pearlescent paper (sparkly!). Bree's bookmark has different artwork on each side, and is complimented by poetry written by my friend, Gwen Hay specifically for the book.
"Do not grieve. Did I not tell you that I love her and God from the same place? This story is a love story, but it has always been a prayer underneath.
She is gone where I cannot follow, but that is why religion is also called faith."
Postcard by Katie O'Neill. Printed on the same pearlescent paper. Can be used as a bookmark too.
The letterpress postcard, in collaboration with The Alphabet Press. A bit big to be used as a bookmark, but not impossible.
And personally, my favourite: the nightingale & rose enamel pin. This is a bird made out of hard enamel and gold metal. While it's not apparent in this photo, the pin has a classy vintage finish. Hopefully the GIF below shows some of that.
That's all of the physical rewards made! They will be sent out around the same time that the book does. All of them are exclusive to the Unbound publication of The Carpet Merchant Vol I. The only way to get them after this campaign is through me, while stocks last.
(For supporters who backed tiers that include an artist commission, I will contact you in September)
FINAL COVER
An exciting update: we have the final cover of the book!
(these are mockups - not the actual book!)
It's going to be a thick book. Look at that spine.
All the bright yellow parts on the front illustration, including the title will be printed in gold foil. Which is awesome! I super can't wait to see what everything looks like in person.
SNEAK PEEK
It's a little bit too early to hint at this, but...
The second (and final) volume of The Carpet Merchant is happening! The campaign will launch on the publication date of the first volume - mid-November. I'll keep everyone posted.
And that's all from me. I will send another update when the book is finally at the printers.
Until next time,
Reimena
