Hello, everybody!
As the third and final month of summer approaches, I find myself both relaxed and nervous at the thought of this season coming to an end. In my humble opinion, it's the best time for writing (fewer distractions, less day-to-day stress, more excuses to huddle in a room, preferably with A/C :) ) and for losing oneself in drafts, stories, characters, entirely new worlds--all without use of a spacecraft, LSD, or any other "transport" :D . To celebrate this "enchantment," and the latest progress on my current draft, I present for this week's song Enchanted by The Platters (Usual copyrights apply; I own nothing!)
Like probably a fair number of people out there, I was first introduced to this song through a certain episode of Breaking Bad :) , and eventually added it to my playlist of music from the show. Since that time, it's come to be more than one tune of many on a soundtrack; it's both a booster for when the work starts to lag, and a relaxant when I'm between projects, or just need to get away from one for a time, and come back refreshed. And as those who know the above scene can attest, it definitely lends itself to an altered state of mind--which, in the end is what most or all writing comes from! :D .
After the work this past weekend, I almost feel in such a state, and not entirely in a good way...but it's definitely paid off! As of last night, the new middle act sections of Bloody Relations are finished, leaving just the new, concluding chapters that I've been keeping on the back burner. Work, travel and other Outside World matters the next two weeks means I still can't pin down a finish date for this draft, although I am aiming to have it finished in this period. After that, it's nothing but C&F and a small amount of Dixie Curtain edits for the rest of August, clearing the table for wholly new work on the latter, which is currently planed for September and part of October (new PhD semester permitting, of course).
Discarded has also gotten few more boosts, thanks to the reci-pledging approach; if you or anyone you know is willing to trade support for their project, drop me a line here or on the Unbound Social Club FB page! For State & Country has also been accepted and contracted by Wordwooze Publishing for release as an Audible audiobook; narrator selection is going on right now, and I'm expecting more details soon. I'll pass them on as soon as they arrive, here and/or on my FB, Twitter and other author feeds; till then, keep up the shares, comments and reviews!
