Good day, all!
There were a few last-minute Outside World demands last night; hence the delay in the weekly post. Since that demand is on the way to being resolved, though, I'm free to resume writing work--including some long over-due edits and new work. To set the mood for this, I give you as this week's song Setting Sail from the Film Cuts album by the Irish band The Chieftains (Usual copyrights apply; I own nothing!)
As mentioned in a previous post, I first came across The Chieftains when watching the 1990 movie Treasure Island, for which they made the excellent soundtrack. Though I've picked up The Long Black Veil album and a few other songs of theirs since (and am still adding to the collection), many of the tunes from Film Cuts are still at the top of the playlist I have for this group. These songs range from boisterous to energizing to mellow, and have never failed to put me in the right frame of mind for a particular writing draft, or to slow down when I've come to the end of one. This tune in particular has always helped to keep the energy flowing during a long writing session (and if nothing else, jolt me back into focusing :) )
There's plenty of work to "set sail" on as of this post. The most recent edits on the first Cross & Flag book, Awakenings, came to an end this past weekend, leaving the path wide open for several new sections I've decided to or am considering adding. I've also started edits on the second book in this series, Trials; whenever one avenue gets especially tiring, I'll switch to the other. Work on Bloody Relations will also resume before long, once the latest alpha-read comes back; the hurdles that came up in previous work are looking less and less imposing, given recent success(es). If anyone wants a first alpha-related peek of their own at any of these works (say, as part of pledge campaign :) ), feel free to drop me a line here, or on FB or Twitter. Otherwise, stay tuned for the next update, and continue reviewing, sharing and commenting!
