A good (albeit newly cold) Monday to all!
As previously mentioned, today marks the start of my next writing workshop draft: A Cloud Over Munich, a What-If revolving around a slightly different version of my grandfather during his time as a B-17 navigator in WWII. Given the setting and the affection I have for this story, and in light of the (hopefully!) brief return of winter this past weekend, I decided some rousing music was in order. Therefore, I present as this week's song the main soundtrack theme from the 1969 WWII movie Battle of Britain (Usual copyrights apply; I own nothing!)
During my kid years, I spent many weekends with my grandfather (Grandpere was how I always referred to him, courtesy of my parents' background in French taking hold for a while). Eventually, it got to the point where we almost developed a ritual: Every visit, we'd go out to dinner, then pick a movie or two at Blockbuster's (back when it still existed :) ), and do nothing but snack, talk and watch for the whole night of my stay. Very soon, due to his experiences or my growing interest in history of any kind, we fell into the habit of choosing WWII flicks, usually from the Sixties--and Battle of Britain quickly became my favorite in this genre. I enjoy it still more today, as a historian and action-movie fan; the excellent use of original aircraft and wartime advisors (British and German), the cinematography and the stirring music all combine into possibly the best aerial WWII movie ever made, in my view.
Current plan is to have this draft finished by the weekend; after that, and the usual multiple rounds of editing, I may try for publication if time (and any writing magazines) allow. Divided Worlds is also up in paperback form on Createspace, as promised; grab one if you prefer hard copy, as I do. Bloody Relations and a possible rewrite of Sic Semper Tyrannis are still on deck for the start of May; one or both should be finished by the time summer (FINALLY!) comes around.
