Hi to everybody who has supported The Decade In Tory.
I'm genuinely flabbergasted that it hit the funding target on the first day. In the popular parlance of anybody celebrating an achievement, I'm "humbled", which is why I'm boasting so much.
I hate to keep begging, but I also hate to starve. Writing the book means taking time away from work, and so far the funding doesn't cover the cost of that: only the costs of publication. So if you know somebody who might enjoy being really confused about whether to laugh or be furious, please suggest my book to them. Thanks!
Just to keep you all posted about progress: I am currently re-reading every British newspaper since 2010, which I'm sure you can imagine is a joyful enterprise that puts a spring in my step and a song in my heart. But this is an essential part of research for the book, and thanks to your generosity the therapy is already paid for.
The next stage, which starts in 2 or 3 weeks time, is converting all that research into a readable book, or at least one that you can burn to keep warm when the inevitable happens. I'm hoping to have the first draft finished in around 12 weeks from now.
And then it all goes over to lawyers, who will probably advise me not to call Jacob Rees-Mogg a pudenda, and have a conniption fit about my liberal use of the phrase "criminal corruption".
And then finally the book will be typeset, printed, bound, and shipped off to you.
Thank you for your support. Thank you for your patience. Thank you for the music. Just... thank you.
Russ
