Some news...

Hello lovely supporters and friends (as I have decided that if you've given me some of your money, you're basically a friend. That's how this works now. You're stuck with me),

So some of you gave me cash for this book a full year ago, which is crazy. Some of you gave lots of money and when I look at my wee fancy dashboard thing that Unbound have for authors I am genuinely staggered by the amount that I have raised to make this book real. It is an enormous amount of pounds! You must really like me as I did feel like I did very little!

The fact is, however, that hardback books are even more expensive than the many pounds I already raised - really expensive. Twice as expensive to be exact - and so until the other day the book being a real physical thing you got to hold still felt a long long way away. It takes several pledges to get that ticker to move 1% and frankly I am very bad at asking for pledges which all made it feel a bit unobtainable.

UNTIL, the very excellent Scott stepped in with a solution which I have decided to take him and Unbound up on: no more hardbacks. The hardbacks are the expensive bit and no one likes them anyway. Unless you do in which case, I'm sorry.

Here's what's going to happen. Agrippina is going to be published in a fancy schmancy paperback instead. It'll still have the gorgeous design that Unbound do so well, and all the same words, and you'll still get all the rewards you pledged for and your name in the back. Just in a more portable packaging. This means that the book is over 100% funded and I can get it done and in your hands much much faster.

All that, to me, seems like good news and I very much hope that it does to you too!

The second bit of news is that I am off on a self-imposed writing retreat tomorrow to really really knock out a good chunk of the book so it can be yours as soon as I can drag all the words out of my brain (which is sort of the easy bit tbh).

So that's that - we're moving forward and good things are happening! And you are all A++ people. I really can't tell you how much all your kind words and the fact that you want to read my book means to me. Give yourselves a treat from me.
