I've got quite a few little update bits to fire down your eye tubes. Prepare your neurons.
The first is the fairly obvious news that the book is 100% complete in all respects. I'm super happy with it – I feel the little extras have made it a more substantial tome than the first, and it somehow feels more 'complete' to me.
The second update is that we've managed to pull off our daring plan for the covers of your special editions. As you may well be aware, Unbound's special editions are indeed a bit special as they pull out all the stops to make them superior to the trade editions in every way. But they've gone above and beyond this time as Attack of the Flickering Skeletons will have actual flickering skeletons on the cover, created via the magic of lenticular printing. A bit like those little pictures of dinosaurs that you used to get in Corn Flakes packets in the eighties. I am unreasonably excited about this.
The downside is that the process of producing the MAGICAL COVER OF BEAUTY was so fiddly and time-consuming that it's delayed the special editions a bit, so annoyingly they'll be sent out after the release date of the trade editions. Not too long fortunately - they'll be with you before Christmas. Rest in the knowledge that the trade editions contain no magic whatsoever. (And lower quality binding etc.) Also you'll still be getting a lovely PDF of the book which you can peruse if you really want that terrible gaming info in your brain at the earliest possible opportunity.
So! Release dates then. The official release is 2nd November for the trade book, although it seems like some shops won't have it until the 5th. Your special editions will go out as soon as humanly possible afterwards - I'll keep you updated. Man, book releases are complicated.
Also! I'm doing one of those book tours that the ancients prophesised. It'll be a combination of Forbidden Planet and Waterstones stores, and starts on 28th October. The Forbidden Planet dates are locked in and can be viewed on this very webpage. By all means come along and say hello - although your shiny books will not yet be with you, I'll have some sticky book plates I can sign and you can attach to them when they arrive.
