Good afternoon
I thought I should give you a little update on how the book is going. I've written most of it. Some days I think I've written 3/4, on not so good days I think I've written half. I've done most of the research (see photo below) and I just need to take gruelling trips to Elgin, Oporto, Jerez and Bordeaux to finish the research. I'm off to Scotland on Friday and will report back with photos of me drinking whisky whilst in full Highland dress.
I have to hand the book in to Unbound on 24th July. They will then remove all the mistakes, add coherence and put all the commas in the right place. Then the finished book will come out next year.
Meanwhile I've recently landed a job at the Guardian writing a column called Empire of Drink. It will give you a flavour of the finished book.
