Dear Supporter -
Just a short update to let you know that my next project on Unbound, a translation of the Alliterative Morte Arthure (King Arthur's Death - a poem contemporary with Sir Gawain and the Green Knight) has now reached 50% funding! For those of you who supported Gawain and have also helped me reach this point with Arthur, I can't thank you enough.
I'm really excited at having reached this landmark - and it wouldn't have been possible without your support.
As I have been translating it, it has become increasingly clear to me that the poet had a signficant message he was disguising within the text. It is anti-war, there is no doubt about that; but there is something deeper too. This is a King Arthur story which has real elements of subversion within it. It's like Gawain but with an even more critical angle on the society it reflects upon! I'm saving that for the introduction and notes - but crikey, it's a mirror on a distant time which is well worth looking at!
If you'd like to pledge for King Arthur's Death (I know that sounds odd!) and haven't yet done so, there's plenty of time still - and don't forget to use the special GAWAIN10 promo code to save 10% (this is only available to Gawain supporters so do keep this to yourself).Pledge here
If you liked Sir Gawain, I hope you'll like this one too! In the meantime, it's onwards to Avalon!
Banners Advance!
Thank you again.
