More glimpses into the world of crosswords, art and hair-dressing.

Happy End of January!

We are getting closer to the 100% target thanks to your wonderful support.

Congratulations to those who managed to solve all of the clues to the Christmas Pudding crossword.

If you sucessfully completed it then your vocabulary might have been enriched by Torquemada's encyclopaedic mind. We now know the words for a 'seclusion of Indian women' and 'a person who takes care of horses' who is not a groom.

The completed crossword is reproduced below.

PUZZLE No. 508 FULL PAY PUDDING (1935)

Our investigations into the life of Saxon Sydney-Turner continue and we are delighted to present this portrait by Vanessa Bell, sister of Virginia Woolf and member of the Bloomsbury Group. This image of Saxon Sydney-Turner was probably painted at night because we understand that the sitter preferred a nocturnal, rather than a diurnal, existence. He is particularly well groomed and it's possible that Vanessa has recently attended to his coiffeur (see previous update here). You may have seen this painting recently exhibited in the Dulwich Picture Gallery.

We think these glimpses into the lifestyle of a successful solver of Cain's Jawbone may prove useful in the future.
