Thanks so much for being an early supporter of The Rubbish Book. In return for your support, I promised to keep you updated on progress and where we were in the process of publishing the book.
I am really excited to say that I have just sent the completed draft back to Unbound, following a development edit, three industry experts checking it (I don't really want it to be rubbish) and a full copy edit.
I know that means you might be expecting to receive your copy of the book soon but there is still a lot of work to do. Unbound will now check my edits and typeset the book so I can approve what it will look like when it is published. We then have to do final checking and, somewhere in there, agree on a cover design! This all takes place before promoting it to bookshops (which takes time) and the actual printing.
My understanding is that we are aiming for a February 2022 launch, and the exact date should be confirmed soon now that we are at final draft stage.
The book is bigger than I anticipated, currently around 55,000 words covering 150 topics, which unfortunately means I had to think of 150 puns for subheadings. As an exclusive sneak peak, I will share my favourite:
"Start shredding the news!"
...believe it or not, the others are all worse.
I am really excited to see it come together and I hope you enjoy it when you finally get your copy.
