Hello lovely pledgers,
your ranks are growing by the day, which really puts a spring in our step.
Some of you may have noticed that we also write about our lido road trips via medium.
On Wednesday I am off to North Pembrokeshire for my annual summer dose of sea swimming, salt air, good ale, bacon for breakfast and all the barbecued lamb leg steaks I can eat. I grew up in Wales, and the coast between St Davids and Cardigan holds me up like a backbone. I can't wait.
But what Wales has in coastline it sorely lacks in lidos. The only remaining outdoor pool in the coutnry is Lido Ponty, a triumph of recent renovation and I can't recommend a visit highly enough. Not least because it is free to use, because Rhondda Cynon Taf recognise the economic benefits the visitors bring to the area. This in itself, a local authority that values its lido rather than sees it as a burden, is a thing to be celebrated.
However, while I'm away lido road trip blog posts from me will be as thin on the ground as the lidos themselves. So we would like to invite guests posts, and we'd like to extend that invitation to our supporters first of all.
You don't have to be going on a lido road trip soon, although if you are we'd obviously love to hear about it. You might choose to write about your favourite lido, you might choose to write about a memory of a lido visit in the past - perhaps when you were a child. Really, it is up to you - the only key thing is that it must be about a lido.
We're not big ones for rules, so there isn't a fixed word count or anything of that sort - we just want to hear what you have to say; and if you have a picture or two of the lido you're writing about, to accompny your post, that would also be welcome - the interent loves pictures! And lido lovers can't, it seems, get enough of looking at pictures of pools. Or is that just me?
