Dear Children of the Shed,
Today, in a break from my usual rambling shed postings, I shall be brief and businesslike. And joyous, too – because I’m really pleased to say that You Took the Last Bus Home has now hit the 200% funded mark.
I remain utterly amazed by the support this project has received. So a huge thank you to all 719 of you who have pledged so far – the back of the book will need to be extended to accommodate all of you within its pages. Either that of your names will be set in 4pt type.
That part of proceedings is closing over the next week. You should hopefully have received an email from Unbound asking you to confirm your name as you would like it appear in the back. So please get back to them if you do have any changes (for instance, if you would now like to be known as Cynthia Bradshaw).
Should you know of anyone else who might be interested in pledging and getting their name in the back of the book, now’s the time to remind them. Most of the pledge rewards will continue to remain open to new supporters but the name-in-the-back-of-the-book thing will close as the book gets ready to go to press.
Similarly, if you pledged at one level but are interested in ‘upgrading’ to a different level, then do let Unbound know. Most things are possible, I suspect.
For my part, I’ve got lots to keep me busy:
- Checking the first proofs which have just come through and addressing the copy editor’s questions, which say things like ‘what on earth do you mean here?’, ‘do you REALLY want to say that?’ and ‘do you know that’s not a real word?’
- Getting things ready for fulfilling the different pledge awards. For example, 11 of you have pledged for personalized poems – a quickly tossed-off haiku will not do for such incredibly generous acts of benefaction.
- Other promises to make good on now we’ve reached 200% - specifically, a subscriber-exclusive poem plus audio recordings for some of the poems.
- I've just realised some of you posted comments up following my last shed communication - and I've not responded to them so I shall put that straight right now.
- Plus 51 European Championship football games to watch over the next four weeks
So I’d better crack on. If you need me, I'll be in my shed.
Thanks,
Brian
