The research trip was all I hoped. The seascape, eerily calm, revealed so many whales, sharks, silver fish and birds that it reflected my imaginary world. Landscape provided plot and revealed how characters may develop in the sequel; now I'm returned I'll begin a second draft. I was sad to leave all this, too; so imagine my joy to receive an email with a pencil sketch of the cover by the brilliant Joe Wilson. Once you've read the book, dear supporters, you'll know how clever he's been and he has worked closely with my editor to create something that will identify the series. I gazed at it for an age, loving the way it draws you in - as I hope Bera's world will, too.
