Hello everyone, Laura here, author of Things I Learned From Mario's Butt.
Let's address the elephant in the room, Covid-19 is a thing, and it's causing a lot of disruption around the world to a lot of different industries. One of those is physical book publishing.
I had hoped my book launch wouldn't be impacted too much, Things I Learned From mario's Butt is essentially finished and was until recently ready to go to the printers. Its planned launch window was October 2020, and hopefully by then life will have regained a sense of normalcy. I was hopeful that because my book was finished, and wasn't due to release in the middle of summer, its release wouldn't be impacted too badly.
Unfortunately, that isn't the case.
To make things simple to understand, Unbound as a publisher is delaying many of their summer book launches into Autumn to make sure their sales are not impacted by the fact that people currently cannot leave their homes. It makes sense, impulse purchases from people browsing their local book shop, launch events, signings, all those kinds of events simply can't happen right now, and authors with books years in the making deserve those oportunities.
Those summer books are now releasing in Autumn, but that means the books which were launching in Autumn have to be moved back too, so that there's not this sudden influx of books releasing and trying to get proper launch support all at once. That means the planned October 2020 launch for Things I Learned From mario's Butt is no longer happening.
So, when is Mario's Butt now releasing? Well, it's no longer just a nebulous launch month, but an actual date. Things I Learned From Mario's Butt will officially release 4th February 2021.
Please believe me when I say I do not take any joy in delivering this news. I am well aware it will ultimately be over two years between when you all first supported this book's creation, and you actually reciving it, which is a far longer turn around that I would have liked. I wish you could see this finished book already, the printer ready digital copy I have seen looks wonderful, In am so proud of it, and I can't wait to get it into your hands.
I am sorry that this unpredictable situation has delayed your recieving of your book. I hope you can all understand and be patient as we work through this difficult time.
Thank you all again for your continued support.
