My friends,
As some of you may have seen, the book has reached its next stage of development. It is being set and prepped for press, and it will be in your hands (at long last) later this year. One aspect that has been finished for some time is the cover art, which I wanted to share with you first, before posting it to Instagram. Being the reason the book is being published at all should come with a few perks, right?
I can never thank you enough for your support and patience through this crazy process. I am thrilled with the way the book came out and really can't wait for you to see it. What a great conversation starter it will be, sitting on your coffee table, looking all cute, and you can point to it and say "see that book, I helped make it happen." You might get a few odd looks but I still highly recommend trying to start a conversation that way. We could all use some non-weather-related material since most of us have forgotten how to behave in mixed company to begin with.
So, here is the cover art. I felt strongly at the outset that the cover should be a cup, and was able to work with the design team at Unbound to create something that will hopefully pop off the shelves in book stores across the globe (i might be getting ahead of myself a scoatch). I also chose green for the background because I remember reading that it's a soothing color to people's subconscious, probably because of money and/or foliage, and also as a slight homage to the billion dollar company that inspired this entire escapade. But enough about my stupid creative process, here it is:
Also one more thing that my US supporters can look forward too, because Unbound is in England, I had to translate some of the copy to the King's english. That means words like 'color' become 'colour' and any word with 'z' in it gets changed to an 's.' Just something for you to look forward to when the book is finally in hand.
Ok, that's it for now. I'll send another update when I get the first shipment of actual books.
What an exciting day that will be :)
All my caffeinated love,
Josh
