Hey Everyone
Sorry the last month or so has been a little light on updates on the book, promoting it and handling managing contributions while we try to hit the funding goal has become more of a full time job than expected. However, I've got a quiet lunch break free today, so time to update everyone on where the book is at.
We've added several new contributors to the book since we first launched, with our total list now including Jim Sterling, Zoe Quinn, Justin McElroy, Brian Altano, Max Scoville, Brentalfloss, Greg Miller, Tim Gettys, Dan Bull, Dodger, Masako X, Little Kuriboh, Alanah Pearce, and Stuart Ashen.
While they're not all 100% confirmed yet, as many of them as possible will also be contributing to the audiobook by reading their own sections.
We've been working hard on getting the artist icons ready for each of the contributors, and I can share a big batch of those at the end of this update.
In terms of writing the book itself, my own words for the book are nearly done, with the main tasks now being securing and finalising contributor content and developer content. We have some really really awesome people from the game creation community currently seeking permission to get involved, and if those discussions pan out I'll have some really exciting announcements on that for you in the coming weeks.
The book's text and structure is really taking shape, with pieces of art and text being put into place and the flow of the book becoming clear. I can really see the path from today to the completed book, and I cannot wait until we start getting the completed artwork inserted and start laying it all out.
Thank you so much everyone who has supported this book, seriously you've no idea how exciuted this project has made me. After a gruelling spring and summer writing emotionally raw personal essays, the ability to spend the latter half of the year working on something fun, joyous, and involving many of my favourite people in the world has been a real blessing.
I first had this silly idea four years ago, and now it's within arms reach of being a real physical book which will exist all around the world.
Thank you
Laura
