I'm so eager to finally get the book into production. Very soon, this will come to life in its ideal form (a gorgeous, full-colour tome) and be delivered right into your hands to the gratitude of your eyeballs. How cool is that!!
As the holiday season is fast approaching, the process of book production will only begin in January 2019, once everyone's back to work. Here is my to-do list to busy up the new year:
- Since all of the artwork for this graphic novel is finished, we're skipping ahead to editorial for a final round of copyedits, to make sure everything art and grammar-wise is in the clear.
- I'll be hitting up printers/factories to make the postcards, bookmarks and enamel pin! More to come.
- Contacting the design team in Unbound to firstly, talk about the specs and design of the physical book; secondly, prepare artwork files correctly so the design team won't hate me for giving them problems; and thirdly, discuss updating the cover artwork to include some fancier elements.
What elements? The cover artwork is fine as it is; just that, since the aesthetic of Ottoman book arts is reflected in the interior pages, I was thinking of emphasising it too on the cover. Most especially on the spine and the back. Until I get the specs and know our production limitations, I'm wary of going wild with my madcap ideas.
Plus an exciting thing: now that Volume One is funded, this opens the door for another Unbound campaign...for Volume Two! I'll update everyone as the new campaign comes about, and when it'll be announced.
